A Versatile Cosmetic Solution

A dental veneer is an ultra-thin shell of tooth-colored porcelain that is attached to the front surface of a tooth. The dental veneer hides cosmetic imperfections, making the tooth appear pristine and free from visible flaws.

Porcelain veneers are designed to enhance your front teeth. Just a few well-placed dental veneers can give you a brand-new smile. They are one of the most versatile cosmetic dentistry treatments available today, and can conceal a variety of aesthetic concerns such as:

  • Cracks or Chips
  • Stains or Discoloration
  • Tooth Gaps
  • Misshapen Teeth
  • Smile Asymmetry

What Are Veneers Made Of?

Our veneers are made of durable, stain-resistant porcelain that can be crafted to look virtually indistinguishable from natural dental tissue.

Our Arlington dental office uses IPS e.max® for its veneers. This top-tier porcelain is especially durable, and closely matches the look of natural tooth enamel.

The Dental Veneer Procedure What Patients Can Expect

It typically takes about two weeks to complete the porcelain veneers process. However, we can complete the process faster in some cases, sometimes as soon as overnight. We can discuss treatment timelines in more detail during your consultation at our Arlington, VA, practice. This is what you can expect during a typical two-week timeline:

We use IPS e.max and other advanced porcelain materials for long-lasting results that look just like natural teeth

Initial Consultation

During your initial consultation at our Arlington office, we will examine your smile and review your cosmetic goals. We can answer any questions you may have about veneers, and discuss costs and potential alternatives. We will provide a digital preview of what veneers can do for your smile, and you can provide feedback based on this image.

Prepping and Impressions

If porcelain veneers are right for you, we can prep your teeth for treatment. We will remove less than 1 mm of enamel from the tooth surface. This process is not painful. With the tooth enamel removed, we can then take an impression of the prepped tooth.

Temporary Veneers

We will create and place a set of temporary veneers. You can provide feedback based on how these restorations look.

Fabricating the Veneers

Each veneer is tailored to your tooth. The lab technicians strive to make each custom-made veneer as natural-looking as possible.

Placing the Finished Veneers

When we have received the completed veneers, we will check them for proper fit and make any final adjustments as needed. Once the porcelain veneers are secured in place, you'll walk out of our office with a new smile.

Dental Veneer Aftercare

How to Make the Benefits Last

  • Brush your teeth at least twice a day, and floss your teeth at least once a day
  • Avoid biting your fingernails, chewing on pen caps, and crunching ice cubes
  • Quit smoking cigars and cigarettes, and avoid all other tobacco products
  • Wear head, face, and mouth protection during contact sports
  • See your dentist for regular cleanings and dental checkups twice a year

Frequently Asked Questions About Veneers in Arlington

Q. How long do veneers last?

A. Porcelain veneers can last 10 years or longer with proper care. You can get the most from your veneers if you maintain excellent oral hygiene, attend regular six-month checkups, and follow our aftercare instructions.

Q. What if I'm not a candidate for veneers?

A. If you have issues such as severely worn enamel or other oral health issues, our skilled dentists provide a range of treatment options that can eventually make you a candidate for veneers. In other cases, an entirely different treatment, such as dental crowns, may be a better fit. You can count on us for a thorough candidacy evaluation and expert recommendations.

Q: It's hard to explain my goals. How do I know I'll like my results?

Because right away, Dr. Han will be able to show you a digital preview of your results. You can tell him what you like and don't like about this image, and he will use that information to create temporary veneers. When you try on your temporaries, you can provide more feedback about their shape, color, size, and more. We can even alter your final veneers in order to make sure you are satisfied with the outcome.

I came in by recommendation of a friend years ago and now my husband and daughters are patients here as well (braces, Invisalign, bone grafting, fillings - you name it). Dr. Han is the best in class who is able to handle the most complex issues you may have in your mouth, painlessly and with grace. Highly recommend!
